First Blog Post

Hey y’all!

So this is my first blog post. Wow! I cannot believe I’m saying that! I have wanted a blog for a months now and I’m so ecstatic that one of my biggest dreams has actually come true before I moved out of my parent’s house. (Yes, I really am ecstatic). When I was thinking up names, I knew I wanted something that was Christian, but was also kinda mysterious and that had a cool backstory behind it. School genuinely gives me some of my most brilliant ideas, so it’s not a surprise that I came up the name “Product of Grace” during Chemistry class. My teacher had been talking about products and reactants and when he said “product,” I knew immediately that the name was Product of Grace. It just made so much sense to me and seemed absolutely perfect. All the other names I had ever considered became obsolete and my mind and heart instantly fell in love with the name. The next step was the backstory because, contrary to popular (or unpopular) belief, the story of how I came up the name isn’t the end of the backstory, it’s only the beginning. The meaning behind the name is something I think is really cool.

Everything we have, food, family, friends, even life itself is all because we have a gracious Father. Every good and perfect thing that you have is because God graciously decided to bless you with it. The definition of grace, according to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, is: unmerited, divine assistance given to humans, or a virtue coming from God. I like both these definitions because they help to get the point across that grace is an unmerited gift from God. Let’s focus on that word unmerited for a minute. Unmerited is a fancy way of saying that we don’t deserve something. We don’t deserve grace because we are all sinners and fall short daily, yet because of love, we are freely given grace. Love has significant importance. The world’s definition of love is a strong feeling of constant affection for someone. The Bible’s definition is a Father who sent His only Son to the world with the purpose of dying for the sins of the world. God’s love is for everyone, God’s grace is for everyone. God’s love and grace are free to those who believe in Him.

When I thought about having a blog, something I knew I wanted was a Bible verse that summed up the whole backstory, meaning, and would give a backdrop for all my writings. There are a ton of Bible verses about grace. For forty five minutes, all I did was narrow down my options to my top three. They were: Romans 5:20b, 2 Corinthians 12:9, and Ephesians 2:8. I knew I wanted a verse that would sound great no matter the translation so my next step was to look at my top three verses in different translations. Ephesians 2:8 was, hands down, the winner. This verse says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God;.” Grace, love, salvation, all of these are gifts that the Father lavishly throws upon His children. So many times we take these amazing gifts for granted and forget the fact that there are many people who haven’t taken advantage of this free gift that is offered to them.

My biggest hope for this blog is that people leave with just a little more Jesus than they came with. I hope that people realize the gift that grace is and that they, in turn, lavishly pour it out on others. What I enjoy writing about is determined by what I’m learning, what I’m facing, and whatever I feel the need to say. Basically, it’s an eclectic, fun style where you never can tell what’s gonna come next. I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am to be able to reach a new audience, as well as the old. Y’all are so precious to me and I am constantly praying for everyone this blog reaches.

God Bless,
Savannah
